Next week we will cover the following skills:
Reading -Dr. Seuss -sight word: come -word family: -op -punctuation -writing to persuade Math -addition -finding the missing number that makes 10 (example: 3+?=10) We have a busy week next week. Thank you to everyone who signed up to donate items for our Dr. Seuss Day on Friday. You can send items in early. Thank you, thank you, thank you… it will be a fun day!! Thank you to everyone who has helped their child get pledges for our Boosterthon. Our class has raised $17 pledge per lap so far! We have earned Extra Recess and Crazy Sock Day! Our Fun Run will be next Friday. If the weather is nice, we will run outside at 8 AM. If it rains, it will be moved inside to the gym and we will run at 11:40. We will let you know the time the day before the run. We hope you will be able to join us in order to cheer on our children! Please make sure that your child wears tennis shoes and comfortable clothing to run in. Wednesday: Picture Day Thursday: First Grade Musical Friday: Boosterthon Fun Run and Dr. Seuss Rotations Please continue to practice sight words and to read aloud each night. Please help your child retell books they read and make personal connections to the book. Practice adding numbers to 20. Have a wonderful weekend!!

-Valentine’s Day -long u -word family: -ill -writing to persuade -story elements Math -addition strategies We will exchange Valentine’s Day cards on Thursday. If your child would like to participate, we have 21 students in our class. Feel free to start sending in your cards on Monday. There will not be school for Dolvin students on Friday, Feb. 15, Monday, Feb. 18, or Tuesday, Feb. 19. Please continue practicing reading aloud and retelling story elements/events. Have a wonderful weekend! Next week we will cover the following skills: -long e -sight word: my -word family: -ig -penguins -living and non-living -writing to persuade Math -introduction to addition Along with doing the homework each day, please have your child read aloud to you for at least 10-15 minutes each day. After they are finished reading, have your child summarize the book (tell about the beginning, middle, and end). This is a skill that we need to continue to practice. The Scholastic Book Orders have wonderful books for Kindergarten and first grade readers. Please also utilize the library for new books for your child to read aloud. On February 14, we will have a Valentine’s Day card exchange (see previous email). We have 21 children in our class.
