Kindergarten is very excited to celebrate Holidays Around the World on December 16-17, 2019. This event supports our Social Studies curriculum. Each Kindergarten teacher will do a presentation of one of five international winter holidays. These holidays will include Christmas, Hanukkah, Las Posadas, Seollal, and Teng Chieh. The children will rotate to each classroom and learn about different winter holiday customs around the world. If you have any non-religious objects related to any of these holidays that we could use to display during our celebrations, please send it to your child’s teacher by Monday.
Thank you and we look forward to an exciting cultural experience! In math we will review skills from the first semester and create/read various graphs. If your child will miss any days next week, please let me know so I can plan accordingly. We will be out for winter break December 21 – January 5. Our first day back will be Monday, January 6. The 2 week break is a great time to clean out those backpacks of old snacks, papers, toys, etc. Please spend time having your child read aloud each day. Have a great weekend!

Next week we will cover the following skills:
Reading -gingerbread men -sight word: little -word family: -et -comparing story elements Math -comparing shapes This week I tested the children's reading and comprehension using BAS. Everyone is making progress and I am seeing a lot of improvement. Please support your child at home by having them read aloud to you for at least 15 minutes every day. Ask your child questions about what they read and connections they can make with the book. Continue to review sight words and point out sight words in books. As I always tell the children... the best way to become a better reader is to read, read, read every day! :) The weather is getting colder. Please make sure that your child wears a jacket to school each day. Have a wonderful weekend! Enjoy this magical holiday season with your families! |
