Please wear farm appropriate clothing and shoes. If you signed up to bring your lunch, please make sure it is completely disposable (no lunch boxes or water bottles). We will eat our snack before we leave for our field trip so we sure to pack a snack. Conferences begin next week. I look forward to meeting with each of you to discuss your wonderful children. If you did not return your child's sign and return papers today, please return them on Monday. Please continue to write your child's name on his or her snack. Please ask your child what his or her goal is this month. It is also posted on Seesaw. Help your child practice their goal so they are able to achieve their goal. Thank you. Reading -letters: d and f -sight word: and -characteristics of rocks -signs of fall/scarecrows -drawing a picture and writing a sentence about it -rhyming words Math -counting sets -counting to 100 by ones and tens -counting on beginning at different numbers Please continue to label your child's snack with their name each day. When practicing sight word cards, be sure to go back and review old cards already learned. Begin to point out these words in books while you read aloud to your child. We are beginning to make our individual learning goals for September. We used our data binders to determine what we need to work on. Goals will be posted on Seesaw. Please help your child practice their goal (example: letter sounds, counting to 100, writing their last name, etc.). Later this week, I will send out a Sign Up Genius for Mystery Reader. We are so happy Parth joined our class. We now have 19 students. Today we made wish lists at the Book Fair. We will go back to purchase books from the Book Fair on Wednesday at 8:25. If you would like your child to purchase books, please send them with a list of books and money. We had our first 7 Mindset lesson today. We learned about dreaming big and how everything is possible. Next week we will collect supplies to send to the people affected by the hurricane in the Bahamas. It would be a wonderful lesson to take your child to the store this weekend and pick out a few things for people who have lost everything due to the hurricane. Please see the list from the email send yesterday to see what is needed most. Thank you to everyone who joined us for Curriculum Night this week. It was great to see so many of you. Sight word testing is in full swing and the children are doing great. Once your child knows all 10 words on the card, please send the list back to school so that Ms. Boucard is able to test your child. Mystery Reader will begin in a few weeks. More information to come. Reading -letters: a and p -CVC words with short a -Labor Day -drawing a detailed picture and labeling it Math -recognizing numbers -counting sets -counting to 100 We will begin our sight word program on Wednesday. Each child will bring home a set of 10 sight words to practice. Once your child is able to quickly read each of the 10 sight words (will be tested out of order), please send the cards back to school and Ms. Boucard will test your child on the words. If your child knows all of the 10 words, a new set of words will be sent home. Please continue to review the previously learned words. Point out your child's sight words in books you read together. On Thursday, our first set of Sign and Return Papers will be sent home. Please review these papers together with your child. Return the entire set of papers to school the next day. This week we will be previewing books at the Book Fair. If you are able to help children create wish lists on Friday, Sept. 6, at 11:30 please let me know. You need to be an approved volunteer in order to help. We will purchase books on Wednesday, Sept. 11. Please send your child with a list of books you want them to purchase and money. Curriculum Night is tonight at 6:30. I hope to see everyone there. |
