Welcome to Kindergarten! I am excited to begin working with your child on Monday! I have a lot of information to share with you before we begin next week. Each week I will send an update that will be emailed and also available on my website (http://mshemmannsclass.weebly.com/).
First Day of School We will begin our first meeting at 8:10 on Monday. Please log into Teams using the ⌚Class Meeting🎤 tab. Then click on the Camera icon and join the meeting. Please make sure your camera is turned on and you are muted. If you are unable to join the meeting once it starts, it will be okay. However, I will not be able to help you with technical problems during the live session. We will figure it out during office hours (10-11, 1-2). We will meet for about 2 hours (8:10-10:00 AM). Here are the lessons we will do on Monday: -Morning Meeting – introductions, on-line etiquette, Dolvin Virtual Rules -Reading – we will listen to a story and talk about the letters in our names -Math – we will begin with Calendar Math and listen to a song about numbers. -Social Studies/Science – share our All About Me Bags Schedule Our URL schedule is attached. During specials, you will log into Teams for your lessons in PE, Music, Discovery Lab/Media Center, or Art. On Monday, our special is PE so you will log into Teams to do your lesson with Mr. Maloy at 12:20 PM. Student Information Form Please take a few minutes to fill out the linked form in order to help me get to know your child a little better. Please let me know if you have any questions. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/14ZAzkeudL5FySy-zYv1eZbHSdJtbvm-jf95sEUnoVyc/edit Individual Meetings Beginning the week of August 24, I will be meeting individually with your child during my office hours (10-11 AM, 1-2 PM). I will use this time to assess your child on various reading and math skills which were taught in PreK last year (example: identify letters, letter sounds, numbers, counting, etc.). It will be very important for your child to answer my questions without your assistance in order to get an accurate assessment of what they currently know. This will help me place them in the appreciate reading and math group in a few weeks. Please sign up for one 20 minute meeting each week (2 total meetings) using the link below. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c044eaca722a4fe3-kgkids PTA The PTA would love to have all Dolvin Families join this school year.
