Happy Weekend! I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful long weekend! We had another great week in Kindergarten. We welcomed 4 new friends from Ms. Myers’ class to our class this week. We love that they joined us!
We worked on the letters c and o. We also read a book and sorted events by if they happened or did not happen in the story. We did an experiment to find out which objects sink and which float. We continued to work on learning our shapes and identified which shapes are 2D and 3D. We all looked wonderful for Picture Day on Thursday. We loved receiving the Strong4Life water bottles and notebooks on Friday. The children brought home shape flashcards. Please use these cards to review all of our shapes. We will soon do an assessment on identifying these shapes. You can also use the shape cards to sort the shapes by different characteristics (number of sides, 2D/3D, etc). Please continue to help your child learn his or her sight words. Return the sight words to school when your child is ready in order for Ms. Boucard to test the words. Next week we will go to the Media Center to preview books from the Book Fair. We will make a list of books we are interested in. Children will have the opportunity to buy books the following week. Next week, we will focus on the following skills: Reading: letters d and a, short a words, retelling a story, story elements, rhyming words Writing: personal narratives, sounding out words Social Studies: Labor Day Math: review of all 2D and 3D shapes, drawing and making shapes, comparing shapes, counting to 100 Please remember that there is no school on Monday due to Labor Day. Thank you for sharing your wonderful children with us!
