-review short vowels -CVC words -reading a text and retelling the events -main idea and details -Thanksgiving Then and Now Math -combining shapes to make new shapes -creating shapes On Wednesday is our Thanksgiving Play at 1 PM in our classroom. Please arrive on time. Our play is not very long and we don't want anyone to miss it. After the play, we will have a small feast together. Thank you to everyone who volunteered to bring something to share. On Friday is Thankful for Reading Day. We will be engaged in reading activities all day long. Children can either dress up as their favorite book character (bring book) or wear their PJs to school on this day. It will be a fun way to end our week. Reading -letters: q and u -sight word: is -word family: -ed -Thanksgiving Math -3D shapes (cube, sphere, cone, cylinder, rectangular prism) We are working hard to practice for our Thanksgiving Play on November 20th at 1 PM in our classroom. Today children learned if they would be a turkey, a Pilgrim, or a Native American. If your child is either a turkey or a Native American, please have your child wear either a brown or dark colored shirt. If your child is a Pilgrim, please have them wear a white shirt. Jeans or dark pants for all please. After our play, we will celebrate together with a small feast. Please considering signing up to bring 1-2 things so that we have enough food for all children and their parents. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0d4eaba82aabf49-kindergarten On Friday, November 22, we will be celebrating Thankful for Reading at Dolvin. Children can either dress up as a favorite book character (bring the book) or wear their favorite PJs to school on this day. We will be rotating to the other K classes to hear turkey stories as well as participate in other fun reading activities throughout the day. Be sure to look for pictures on Twitter. Sign and return papers are coming home today. Be sure to look through the packet and practice skills that your child needs more practice with and compliment great work. Reading -Z and Y -sight word: look -word family: review of short a word families -Thanksgiving Math -2D shapes (circle, square, triangle, rectangle, hexagon, trapezoid, pentagon, octagon) There is no school for students on Tuesday, November 5. It is a Professional Development Day for teachers. Please continue to practice sight words and read aloud each night. The children are doing a wonderful job becoming better readers. Please continue to practice! Our Thanksgiving Play will be on Wednesday, Nov. 20th, at 1 PM in our classroom. We hope to see all of our parents there. It will be a great time! Book orders were sent home yesterday. Ordering from Scholastic is a wonderful way to add to your child's home library. The books are affordable and great literature. When you order, we earn points to spend on books in our classroom so it's a win-win! If you would like to order books for the holidays, please let me know so that I don't send them home with your child. I hope everyone has a safe and dry Halloween night! If you are able to donate, please send these items to school next week. Sign and return papers and report cards came home yesterday. I am enjoying meeting with you and talking with you about your children. Bus Driver Appreciation Week is Oct. 21-25. We will making making cards for our bus drivers and presenting them with a little treat. Don't forget to thank you favorite bus driver! We will celebrate the 50th day of School on Oct. 24. Start looking for those 50's clothes now! It will be a fun day celebrating everything we have learned during our first 50 days in Kindergarten. Our class will be presenting a Thanksgiving Play on Wednesday, November 20th at 1 PM. I hope all of our parents will be able to make it. I hope everyone enjoys the long weekend! Dolvin will be collecting new socks to donate to a homeless shelter. Please involve your child in this special way to show how we are all connected. Pick up an extra pair of socks this weekend while out shopping and donate to a wonderful cause! The 50th day of school is coming on October 24. We will be celebrating by dressing up in 50's attire. Get started on figuring out your costume today! We had a wonderful time on our field trip to the Art Barn! Thank you to Mrs. Berutti for joining us and helping with the activities on the farm. Be sure to check out the pictures on Twitter! Conferences continue next week. Please be sure to arrive on time. I have conferences scheduled every 20 minutes. If you are unable to make your scheduled time, please let me know. There will be no school for students on October 10, 11, and 14. GKIDS readiness reports will be sent home on Monday. Please wear farm appropriate clothing and shoes. If you signed up to bring your lunch, please make sure it is completely disposable (no lunch boxes or water bottles). We will eat our snack before we leave for our field trip so we sure to pack a snack. Conferences begin next week. I look forward to meeting with each of you to discuss your wonderful children. If you did not return your child's sign and return papers today, please return them on Monday. Please continue to write your child's name on his or her snack. Please ask your child what his or her goal is this month. It is also posted on Seesaw. Help your child practice their goal so they are able to achieve their goal. Thank you.
